Lee Chong Wei

..........

Lee Chong Wei is revered as one of the most talented badminton players of this or any generation, the Malaysian consistently sets the standard for those who have followed in his footsteps and those who have competed against him. His playing style and charisma endear him to crowds all over the world, an audience that unfortunately has yet to see him win one of the major tournaments as he has taken on the tag of prince rather than king which he would have probably acquired if born in another era. Three times Olympic silver medallist, in Beijing, London and Rio and three times world championship silver medallist, in London, Guangzhou and Jakarta, he has had the misfortune to have been in competition with two of the greatest to ever play the game. His first two silver medals in the Olympics and the first two in the world championships were all won with defeats to possibly the greatest ever badminton player, Lin Dan of China. As the influence of Lin Dan faded then another Chinese player stepped in to fill the void, Chen Long handed Lee Chong Wei his silver medals at the Rio Olympic games and the third world championships.
